The boys competed very well today, finishing 8th out of 14 full teams. Reece Whitelaw once again led the Vikings and placed 24th overall, running a 19:23 (:23 improvement from 2018). Patrick Celcer also dipped under the 20 minute mark with a 19:59 performance, good enough for 36th place. Mikey D’Ambrose rounded out the top 3 with a 20:48 and 58th place finish. Tommy Nowlin also had a nice day, finishing just under 21 minutes.
The JV girls earned a hard fought 3rd place behind Liberty Hill and Giddings (they ran most of their team JV…). Carina Alwell came back strong from a foot injury to lead the Vikings. Cadence Samson and Emily Moxley had breakout races, both running exactly 15:52.8. Rylee Bing rounded out the top 4 with a 16:01 2 mile time.
The girls varsity was led by Caitlin Keeney for the 3rd time in as many meets. Her 13:38 7th place finish was 52 seconds faster than her 2018 performance. Esther Long wasn’t far behind in 13:54 and a 13th place finish. Courtney Keeney and Phoebe Gale were next to cross the line as the Vikings raced to a runner-up finish in the 16 team field. Heather Power had the race of the day as she was the fifth and final scorer with a time of 14:15, dropping 2 minutes and 40 seconds for her season debut.
